Speech and language therapy is an essential part of a child's development.  "The professionals who are educated to assess speech and language development and to treat speech and language disorders are called speech-language pathologists (sometimes informally referred to as speech therapists). Speech-language pathologists can also help people with swallowing disorders" (ASHA).  

What Does A Speech Therapy Session Look Like?

 

Setting: Where does a speech therapy session take place? A speech therapy session typically takes place in an outpatient clinic, at home, educational setting, and/or the community. 

 

Duration: How long is a session? A speech therapy session can vary depending on individual needs. Typically, sessions are between 30 minutes to an hour.

 

Frequency: How many sessions per week? Speech therapy sessions can vary and are based on each individual's needs.  Sessions can be up to three times per week.
